Four Greens Community Hub

Four Greens Community Hub

Four Greens Community Hub is a wonderful place and Trust, that is focused on helping the community, offering a variety of services, including a food bank and various wellbeing services.
We were approached by the client to offer some ideas for one of their rooms within the building on the 2nd floor, which was currently one big space, but with only a few tables and chairs within it. The area had so much more potential than what it was currently being used for and the client wanted ideas on how to maximise the room and turn it into a multifunctional area, offering a variety of services to the community, such as a warm, and break out space, a hot desk area, and meeting rooms for various uses, including counselling. We needed to work while the building was still fully functioning and open to the public.

Refurbishment of The Greenhouse, Chelson Meadow, Plymouth

Refurbishment of The Greenhouse, Chelson Meadow, Plymouth

STED Interiors completed ‘The Greenhouse’ over a 5-month period, and completed every aspect of the new office space interior fit out, including Suspended Ceilings, Office Partitions, Glazed Partitions, Painting & Decorating, Plastering, Carpets and Flooring, Showers & Bathrooms, Kitchens, Windows and Carpentry.

We worked alongside SWH (South West Highways) & PCC (Plymouth City Council) to transform a run-down, open-plan office space into a state-of-the-art modern space. They wanted the area to include separate offices, to be used for meetings and private conversations, whilst still retaining the open plan area for the large viewing screens. The building had a domed ceiling, so we needed to overcome the challenge of how to hang our Suspended Ceilings and fix our Partitions. In addition to this, having a large ceiling void meant that there could be a problem with controlling the room temperature, and also with the noise from the rain water hitting the building’s tin roof. The room was very cold, as the existing ‘tin’ perimeter walls had no form of insulation to help keep the warmth in. The office is manned 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, so a fully-functioning kitchen and shower room was required, both upstairs and downstairs – as the existing kitchens were old and tired. The carpets throughout the building were old and worn, and had been there since the building was built, back in the late 80’s.

Extension & Refurbishment of the A&E Department at Derriford Hospital, Plymouth

Extension & Refurbishment of the A&E Department at Derriford Hospital, Plymouth

Internal fit out of existing ward areas, new partitions and suspended ceilings in A&E Derriford Hospital in Plymouth.

Working as a sub-contractor to Nevada Construction, STED Interiors was asked to create new wards and bed spaces, plus new arrangements to corridor areas. The hospital was not able to close the existing A&E Department, so the whole project had to be completed delicately, in an occupied, fully functioning hospital with real people and patients! Care had to be taken every step of the way, with everything from noise to deliveries having to be considered from the very start.
